Deji LaRay

CEO & Founder

Deji LaRay is a multi-talented actor, writer and producer from Atlanta, Georgia, who is the creator of the hit show “Johnson.” The show follows four lifelong friends Omar (Thomas Q. Jones), Greg (Deji LaRay), Keith (Philip Smithey) and Jarvis (Derrex Brady), all with the last name Johnson, who have all found themselves growing apart in different areas of their lives. The show offers viewers the ability to find humor in the most current and controversial social issues from the Black man’s perspective.

Deji is also in pre-production for his new show G.R.I.T.S, a skating rink dramedy that takes place in Memphis. From a young age, LaRay always knew he wanted to be an artist. He loved to draw, write and paint. At around 9 years old, he began expressing that creativity through theaters around Atlanta, where he was eventually introduced to a New York City agent. Traveling back and forth for auditions, LaRay performed on Broadway at the young age of 13 and trained with the Alliance Theater and the Youth Ensemble of Atlanta. After graduating high school, LaRay took his talents to Los Angeles where he received a BA in Film and TV from Cal State Los Angeles, studying directing and filmmaking to hone his skills all around. LaRay was nominated in 2016 as Cal State’s Alumni of The Year.

LaRay also spent seven seasons on the Amazon series “Bosch” as ‘Officer Julius Edgewood.’ The hit show follows an LAPD homicide detective who works to solve the murder of a young boy while also standing trial for the murder of a serial killer. LaRay also appeared in the first season of “Greenleaf” on OWN as ‘David Nelson.’

Outside of acting, LaRay is passionate about mentorship and aims to start his own nonprofit that will help mentor children in inner cities. He hopes to give kids the ability to get onto a path where they can see that the world is bigger than the neighborhood in front of them.
